Rooted in family. Raised with purpose.
A working farm, not a brand.
Good Family Farms is a working farm. Six hundred acres and change in Meaford, Ontario, where Grey County rolls toward Georgian Bay. The Good family works this land together: raising the animals, growing the feed, and selling what the farm produces from the store at the end of the lane.
Most of what's in the store we raised ourselves. The rest is made by local people we know by name. When something's gone for the season, we say so.
Regeneration, in plain language.
Regenerative isn't a word we made up. We measure our farming by the health of the soil first. Fields rotate from crops back into pasture for two or three years at a time, the herd moves through on rotation, and the grass comes back deeper. No synthetic chemicals: manure, compost and minerals do the work.
The cattle eat grass and forage, never grain. The pigs live outdoors, moved through the bush and forest. The hens cross the pasture in mobile coops. We grow the peas, oats and barley that feed them, and grind it fresh right here.
Why we sell direct.
Everything we raise sells the short way: from our farm to the family that eats it. The Farm Store at the end of the lane, the Collingwood Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings in season, and home delivery to your door.
You see what we have. You know who raised it. And if you'd like to see the pastures for yourself, tours run mid May to mid September. Yes, there are donkeys.
How we treat our earth directly affects how we treat each other.
