What Personal Information We Collect

  • Contact information: name, email address, phone number.
  • Order information: items purchased, order history, purchase amounts.
  • Payment information: billing address and payment card details. Payment card data is processed by our payment processor and is not stored on our systems.
  • Delivery address: shipping address provided at checkout.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email, phone, or contact forms.
  • Website usage: pages visited, clicks, scrolls, device and browser type, referring site, and (via Microsoft Clarity) anonymized session recordings and heatmaps, and (via Ahrefs Web Analytics) traffic and page-view metrics used to improve the store.

Why We Collect It

  • To process and fulfil your orders (including communicating delivery details).
  • To provide customer service and respond to your inquiries.
  • To send you marketing communications, if you have given us your consent (you can withdraw at any time — see below).
  • To comply with our legal obligations under applicable Canadian law.

Legal Basis and Consent

We collect and use your personal information with your knowledge and consent, as required by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us at store@goodfamilyfarms.ca. Withdrawing consent to marketing will not affect your ability to place orders.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as necessary with trusted service providers:

  • Shopify Inc.: our e-commerce platform, which processes order, payment, and account data on our behalf. Shopify is headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
  • Payment processor: Shopify Payments processes payment card transactions securely.
  • ERB Transport / cold-chain delivery partner: receives your name and delivery address solely to complete local & extended-zone deliveries (Greater Toronto Area and Kitchener-Waterloo).
  • Email/SMS provider: email providers including Shopify Email and Mailchimp are used to send order confirmations and, with your consent, marketing messages.
  • Microsoft (Clarity): receives website usage and interaction data as described under Cookies and Analytics. Microsoft processes that data per the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • AHREFs — receives website usage analytics as described under Cookies and Analytics, per the Ahrefs Privacy Notice.

We require all service providers to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.

Safeguards

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include secure HTTPS connections, access controls, and use of reputable, privacy-conscious third-party platforms.

Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.

Your Rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Withdraw consent to the use of your information for marketing.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Cookies and Analytics

Like most online stores, we use cookies and similar technologies that are needed for the site to work (cart, login, security) and tools that help us understand how the site is used.

Microsoft Clarity. We use Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising-related features to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioural metrics, heatmaps, and session replay. We use this information to improve the storefront (layout, checkout friction, content), for fraud/security monitoring, and, if we run ads, to improve advertising. Website usage data may be captured using first- and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies.

Shopify. Our storefront runs on Shopify, which sets cookies required for shopping, checkout, and store security. See Shopify's Consumer Privacy Policy for platform-level detail.

AHREFs Web Analytics. We use AHREFs Web Analytics to measure traffic and on-site behaviour (pages viewed and related usage metrics) so we can improve the store and our SEO. AHREFs may use cookies or similar technologies for this purpose. See the AHREFs Privacy Notice.

Other tools. As we add further analytics or advertising tools (for example Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager), we will name them here.

Your choices. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent checkout from working. To exercise PIPEDA access/correction rights, email store@goodfamilyfarms.ca.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with the effective date noted above.
